Be curious about your child

Sep 28, 2022

Most people who have children will probably recognize that it is difficult to focus on your career or your own development when your children are struggling. Recently, I have received several inquiries from parents who want help.

I believe that we parents often fall short with our children because we expect them to be like us.

After all, we like to raise our children in line with our own upbringing - or in line with what we think is best based on how we ourselves think and feel.

But have you ever considered that this is not necessarily the best for your child? It may be that your child has completely different needs than you and is motivated by completely different things.

To find out how a person thinks, feels and is motivated, in short how this person works, I use Human Design. This is an exciting and comprehensive knowledge system that combines ancient wisdom and modern science.

Here you look at each individual's unique combination of skills, abilities and characteristics.

And here, no character trait is considered worse than others, on the contrary, what one would perhaps traditionally consider weaknesses, is in Human Design considered as strengths.

When our young people are seen and recognized for who they are, and are allowed to be themselves fully, they build good self-esteem, self-confidence and security.

For example, if you get to know your child's energy type, you are already have a lot of information about your child. Human Design operates with five different energy types: Generator, Manifester, Manifesting Generator, Projector and Reflector.

Here's a little taste:
If your son or daughter is a Generator type, they will most likely need to use their body and burn off energy to get a good night's sleep. They are designed to be physically active and go "all in".

If your child is a Manifester type, he or she is designed to be independent, and can often be experienced as being in opposition. They don't like to be controlled or told what to do. These children can benefit from being given responsibility early on. They will probably need more recognition and freedom than direct help and management. If parents suppress this power of independence in order to have the last word, it can lead to anger and frustration in the child, and he or she can develop poor self-esteem and insecurity later on in life.

If your young person is a Projector, it can be useful to be aware that this energy type does not have the same stamina and energy as others. They are designed to work smarter, NOT harder. They may need to take more breaks during the day and others. It will be of great help for them to be allowed to do so without feeling guilty

We humans are diverse, and it is challenging, but it is also incredibly exciting. There is room for all of us! So be curious about your child. Get to know him or her. You will gain a lot from that.

If you are interested in a reading where we look at your Human Design chart in addition to your children's chart I would love to hear from you.
